Tribe Hierarchy
Healer
The Tribe's healer is basically the same thing as a clan's medicine cat and leader put together. The healer gets signs from the Tribe of Endless Hunting in the Cave of Pointed Stones. The healer also almost never leaves the cave.
Prey-Hunter
Prey-hunters are tribe cats whose only duties are to catch prey for the tribe. A group of cave-guards accompany them on their hunts to spot trouble.
Cave-Guard
These are lean, tough cats that protect and guard the tribe. They are also responsible for watching the skies to protect the prey-hunters from hawks and eagles while they hunt.
To-Be
The equivalent of a apprentice, to-be's are trained in either prey-hunting or cave-guarding; when they are finished training, they are made either prey-hunters or cave-guards. Tribe cats believe that they are born into their duty, though they can change positions.
Kit-Mother
As their name suggests, kit-mothers are she-cats who are about to have or recently had kits. When they have their kits, they remain kit-mothers for a time to nurse them. They are the equivalent of a clan queen.
Elders
Former Prey-Hunters and Cave-Guards, now retired. The same as a clan elder.
Kits
Young cats that are not yet to-bes; the same as clan kits.
Terminology
Beetle-brain – Friendly insult; similar to mouse-brain.
Caught-prey – A dead prey animal caught for the purpose of consumption.
Time of Freed Water - The season that follows the time of frozen water. Spring-Early Summer.
Time of Rushing Water– The season equivalent to greenleaf and leaf-fall. Summer-Whenever the water freezes.
Time of Frozen Water – The season of winter.
Tribe of Endless Hunting - Similar to StarClan, these are the tribe's ancestors.
Protocol
Names - Names are often 5-7 syllables long, but cats are given nicknames (usually) based upon the first word in their name. Brook Where Small Fish Swim (Brook), Talon of Swooping Eagle (Talon), Star That Shines on Water (Star), Crag Where Eagles Nest (Crag), Teller of the Pointed Stones (Stoneteller), etc.
Hunting Technique - Tribe cats have their own special way of hunting. Prey-Hunters find some prey (i.e. a mouse), sit in a hiding place, and wait until they see an eagle (or other bird of prey) attempt to kill the prey. They then jump onto and kill the eagle, getting to keep both pieces of prey.
Naming Technique - Kit-mothers often name their kits after the first thing they see after their birth.
